Healthcare
I have more than six years experience in health care prior to entering Podiatry school. I have worked in many aspects of the field, including nursing, clerical and emergency field training. I have worked with acute post operative patients as well as medical patients admitted to the hospital, as well as in the field. I have also worked in the intensive care unit, with a unique focus on the care of severely burned patients.
Computers
I have extensive experience working with computers. I have built systems for myself, my friends and for working professionals. Though I have no formal post high school education in the field, I have been building systems for 20 years. Hardware is my love and specialty, but I am well versed in the software aspects of computers as well. I created the website you are currently reading. I recently had the opportunity to build a high end system for one of my attendings for his office, which is running all of the software necessary of the office to function. I am willing and able to consult on, design and/or manage the office computer system, and will be a valuable asset in tech support should the system malfunction.
In addition, these skills assisted in me being named the Audio/Video Editor of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and since the fall of 2010 I have been interviewing some of the country’s leading authorities to gain better insight into their publications. These authors include Matthew Sorenson and Jack Schuberth. The interviews were conducted via the web and I have created podcasts which can be accessed online at www.jfas.org.
Editing
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with experience in editing and publishing manuscripts. This education has been a vital part of my school and residency experience. It has helped me to realize one of my goals, being involved in the process of medical publication. I have served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery since 2008.
